The Goodman Waves Swim Team was founded in 2011 to provide an affordable, competitive swim team opportunity for the Madison area community. This was made possible from the generosity of the City of Madison, The Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Foundation and the Shelley Glover Foundation.
In 2015, a group of dedicated volunteers formed the Friends of the Goodman Waves with the mission to enable access to recreational and competitive swimming for children of all ages and abilities. The Friends of the Goodman Waves are committed to developing a team that is inclusive, fosters a fun and positive environment, stresses the values of good sportsmanship and a love of aquatics.
The Waves, Madison’s only public swim team, is one of the 13 teams where hundreds of swimmers between the ages of 5-18 have competed in All-City Swim and Dive League. For many of our swimmers, the Waves is where they first learned and had an opportunity to swim competitively and many have continued competitively swimming for area high schools and year-round USA Swimming clubs.
The Waves prioritize and promote individual swimming skills and goals while having fun on a team. A primary goal of the Waves is to provide competitive swimming opportunities to children of all cultural, social, and economic backgrounds through affordable fees, generous scholarships, and high quality coaching.
Your contribution will allow the Friends of the Goodman Waves to continue this mission of making swimming a safe, accessible, affordable activity for all the youth in our community.
