Accessible Parks & Playgrounds

According to the US Census Bureau, 1 in 5 people are affected by a disability, whether it be physical or cognitive. That’s an incredible 20% of our population. With your support, the Madison Parks Foundation has been able to raise funds to have four accessible playgrounds in the Madison community with the fifth scheduled for construction in 2025. These 5 playgrounds have addressed the need for these accessible playgrounds to be added to our 280+ Madison parks and the Madison Parks Foundation has now taken a broader look at the need to add features/elements of accessibility to more of our parks. We recently added a beach mat at Bernie's Beach and soon one at Vilas Beach so that those using a wheelchair can have access to our beaches. We continue to look for new ways to add to our park system to make our parks more accessible.
